What is self publishing?

Self-publishing means that authors design, print and market their books at their own expense. Some who are competent in computer design, printing technology and promotion do the whole thing themselves. Others might do the typesetting and design but contract out the printing. The majority, however, commission a company that specialises in assisting such authors and can provide all the necessary skills. Such a company will set out in a contract, the services it will provide, the agreed number of books to be printed, and the total cost to the author. If the author agrees, both parties sign the contract and the work goes ahead.

Writing a book is a demanding and emotional experience but save some vitality and creativity for the next big exciting step - getting it published.
